Jumpstart Your Business Offering a Service

I know this isn’t passive income, but I feel that the best way to start making money online is to offer a service. This is the easiest way to bring in money, and it can even help you learn the ropes for how to succeed online. When I was a freelance writer, I completed projects for other online business owners, and it taught me a lot about how to write products that sell and how to write for the Internet. My writing career not only gave my income a jumpstart, it also helped me learn a valuable skill.

You should do the same. If you are just starting out, you should start by offering a service. This will bring in income quickly, will help you boost your confidence, and also help you learn important skills that you can translate to cash later on.

You Don’t Need to Be Good At It

I started my writing career back in 1998 when I was still in college by writing for the school newspaper and submitting my work to magazines and journals. I had some success getting published and I even got paid. It wasn’t much, but it was a start. After that, I gradually switched to ghostwriting and copywriting, which is where I learned the ropes on how to succeed online.

The thing is, I am actually not the best writer. However, I am good enough, and I can write nearly everything. My articles perform well in search engines. My eBooks are readable and informative. When I first started writing, I didn’t know how to do these things, and it didn’t matter. I learned and now, I have a skill that can help me make money online.

You also don’t need to write. You can do anything you want! Ideas include create websites for people, offer a social media posting service, create videos for clients, and more. Businesses need a lot of services. You can easily offer something they need.

Leave Time to Build Passive Income

When I was freelance writing full time, I became consumed by it. I worked long hours, and when I was done, I would use the remainder of my time to hang out with my loved ones. The problem with this business model is that when you are done the work and get paid for it, you need to finish more work to get paid again. None of the income is passive. I didn’t leave enough time in my schedule to create passive income so I burned out quickly.

What I should have done was build up my passive income so that eventually, that overtook my freelance income. It didn’t turn out that way. I kept getting projects, doing them, getting paid, repeating. When I needed more money, I needed to work harder. I did this for ten years until I eventually burned out. It took me five years after my burnout to be able to write again without feeling nauseated. Not fun.

The truth is, it really is a good thing to start making money by offering a service business. However, you should move away from doing this as soon as you are able.
